We have recently had a pleasure and a privilege to meet and talk to Stefan Milenkovich, which was considered one of the biggest music prodigies a few decades ago. He performed for Ronald Reagan, Mihail Gorbachov and John Paul II as a child.
We have discussed early childhood music education. His opinion was that education should start as early as possible. It should take the child's wishes into consideration. He first started with piano, but violin suited him much better. He believes the first educator is extremely important. However, the attitude of the teacher, his ability to motivate the kid is perhaps even more important than the pure technical knowledge. Another thing that is very important with learning music is discipline. It is mostly about creating a habit of regular practice. It may be just 5 minutes every day at the beginning, but it has to be regular. He even documented all his practice time and he finds that approach useful. The last promotion of our first book was again very successful - the book got in the top 350 books, #1 in 3 different categories, and it had over 600 downloads in just one day!
Hi, our first book is available for free download again. You can download it for free between Saturday 7th February and Wednesday 11th February (give or take a few hours, depending on your timezone).
We hope you will find it useful. We are happy to announce that we have officially launched our new product - ebook & video series 10 Best Music Games.
These resources are designed for kindergarten educators, parents and baby-sitters. Presented music activities will help you develop the talents and skills of your kids. The main music topics covered are development of the sense of melody (pitch), rhythm, voice and body movement. However, these activities are very useful in training attention, focus, memory, and emotional expression. The book and videos explain each activity in details. So - if you want to improve your knowledge and teaching approaches, click here! We will be hosting a webinar about the most useful approaches for keeping your classes orderly enough on January 23rd.
The webinar will be especially useful for younger teachers and educators. You can register here. We are looking forward to meeting you there! I have recently discussed music education with a friend who teaches organ. He had some very inspiring thoughts and ideas. One of them was: "The most difficult pupils make me develop most as a teacher." If your pupil doesn't progress successfully, you really have to work hard to improve your teaching methods, to break down the process into smallest and simplest steps that anyone can do.
So - don't be discouraged if you have problems at your classes - it is just a step towards being a better teacher. Life is full of new beginnings - this is what we celebrate each New Year. We have started this year with a new logo. We surely hope you like it as much as we do. We also hope to help you make this year better that years before. We are striving to provide useful information for you. Let us know what else you want and need.
